Welcome to the Working Group on Cinema and Television (WGCTV) Website

Mission Statement

Founded in 1991, WGCTV is a professional organization of film scholars and critics dedicated to the study of cinema and television of Russia, Eastern Europe and the newly independent states of the former Soviet Union.

The goals of WGCTV are to facilitate and improve the research and teaching of the area’s cinema and television and to advance multicultural understanding. WGCTV is dedicated to serving its members’ professional needs and preservation of film and television heritage of the region.  Activities of the group include an annual business meeting and coordination of professional communication.

Anyone with an interest in Russian, Eastern European, or newly independent states’ cinemas or television, of the research and teaching of these media is welcome to join the organization.  Also visit our facebook page
